Where Can I Get Cash Quick? Try These 10 Methods!

March 27th, 2009 | Posted in How to Raise Cash

One way to take a little pressure off when you’re in debt is to raise some quick cash. This is especially true if you’re having trouble meeting your minimum monthly payments. Even if you’re not in a desperate situation, it never hurts to have a little cushion of money for emergencies, or to pay down your debt quicker.

Try these 10 ways to create that extra bit of cash:

1. Clear out some of your clutter and hold a garage sale. To attract even more people, try to partner up with your neighbors so that people have a lot of choice and a reason to stop.

2. Find items that you can sell on eBay.

3. Get rid of those old books by selling them on Amazon.com.

4. Take a second job at night, on the weekend, or both. Make sure it’s only temporary however; you don’t want to burn yourself out.

5. Sell your small items around the house by using free classified ads. You can find many websites that provide a free classified ads service. Craigslist.com and Kijiji.com are two of the more popular ones. You might even be able to get a free classified ad in your local paper if the item is under a certain dollar amount. Many newspapers have these free listings.

6. Do you have skills that webmasters could use online? If you have design, programming, or writing skills, head over to elance.com, guru.com, rentacoder.com, or odesk.com and place your bid for jobs that suit you.

7. Register for a temp agency. Quite often, they can have you working within a matter of days. The temporary nature of the job is ideally suited to what you’re looking for.

8. Become a professional garage sale buyer. This is a person who scours the neighborhood looking for under-priced items that they can sell elsewhere. Quite often, the owner doesn’t know the true value of the item they are selling; they just want to get rid of it. In order to be effective, you’ve got to hit the garage sales early in the day while the choice items are still there. Once you’ve got something worth selling, list it on eBay.

9. Start a business doing odd jobs. Many homeowners need help for seasonal tasks such as gutter cleaning, yard work, minor home repairs, and window cleaning. Send out a thousand flyers and you should land at least 10 to 20 jobs.

10. Sell crafts at your local flea market or farmer’s market. You can generally rent a booth by the day. This is an excellent opportunity to get some high volume foot traffic to your wares.
